  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. white sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 or 2 1/2 c. chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chopped pecans (optional)

Directions

    Cream shortening, brown sugar, sugar and vanilla together in a large bowl.

    Mix until light and fluffy.

    Add eggs and beat well. Combine flour, salt and soda together.

    Add this flour mixture to creamed mixture and blend well.

    Add chocolate chips and chopped pecans and stir gently.
