- 1 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 1 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. chocolate chips
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Grease baking pan (13 x 9-inch).

2Mix thoroughly the butter, sugar, egg yolk and vanilla.

3Blend in flour and salt.

4Press evenly in bottom of pan.

5Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350° or until very light brown.

6(Crust will be soft.)

7Remove from oven. Immediately distribute chocolate chips on crust.

8When chocolate is soft, spread evenly.

9Sprinkle with nuts.

10While warm, cut into bars about 2 x 1 1/2-inches.

11Makes 32 cookies.
