  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • minced onion to taste
  • 1 (No. 2) can tomatoes
  • 5 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
