- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 large garlic clove, minced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 32 ounces tomatoes
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 1 cup half-and-half
- salt and pepper
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil, minced
Directions

1Saute onion & garlic in the butter until soft.

2Reserve about 1/2 C of the tomatoes &.

3Add the rest of the tomatoes, bay leaf, & sugar to the pan.

5Puree 1/2 C of tomatoes with cream cheese in a blender.

6Mix the puree with the tomatoes in the pan after the 10 minute simmer.

7Add the 1/2 & 1/2, then the lemon juice.

8Season with salt & pepper to taste.
