Tomato Pudding

  • 2 (10 oz.) cans tomato puree
  • 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 6 slices fresh bread, broken into big chunks
  • 1/2 c. melted butter

Directions

    Mix first 4 ingredients and boil for 10 minutes.

    Put bread in casserole.

    Pour over bread the butter.

    Mix, then pour tomato puree over all.

    Bake 30 to 40 minutes at 300°.

    Can be made a day ahead.
