Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 whole garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 14 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 (28 ounce) peeled italian tomatoes with basil, drained and chopped, reserve juice
  • 12 fresh basil leaves
  • 14 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Directions

    In a saucepan, heat the oil, garlic, onion and red pepper flakes over medium-high heat cooking for 5 minutes.

    Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 10 minutes stirring every 5 minutes.

    Add tomatoes, basil, oregano and salt stirring well and cook 5 minutes over medium-high heat.

    Add reserved tomato juice and bring to a boil over high heat.

    Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Let cool to room temperature and process to a smooth consistency in a food processor.

    Sauce can be frozen for up to one month.
