- 2/3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1 c. quick cooking rolled oats
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 6 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
- 1 sq. (1 oz.) unsweetened chocolate, melted or 1 envelope no-melt unsweetened chocolate
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Directions

1For bottom layer:

2Sift together the 1/2 cup flour, the soda and the first 1/4 teaspoon salt; mix with rolled oats and the brown sugar.

3Stir in 6 tablespoons melted butter or margarine. Pat mixture in 11 x 7 x 1 1/2-inch baking pan; bake in moderate oven (350°) for 10 minutes.
