  • 1 pkg. Swiss chocolate cake mix
  • 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
  • 6 oz. chopped pecans
  • 1/4 lb. margarine
  • 7 oz. (1/2 can) sweetened condensed milk
  • 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

    In heavy saucepan on low heat, melt together margarine, caramels and milk.

    Mix cake mix as directed on package.

    Bake 1/2 of the batter in greased, floured 9 x 13-inch pan in a 350° oven for 15 minutes.

    Pour slightly cooled caramel mixture over baked half of cake.

    Pour remaining cake batter over the caramel layer. Sprinkle with pecans and chocolate chips.

    Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
