- 1 German chocolate cake mix
- 1 (14 oz.) bag caramels
- 3/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 c. chopped pecans
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Melt caramels, butter and milk in a double boiler, set aside.

3Prepare cake mix as directed on package.

4Pour half the batter into a greased and floured oblong pan.

5Bake 15 minutes.

6Remove cake from oven and pour caramel mixture over top. Next sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts over caramel layer.

7Now pour rest of cake batter on top and bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 325°.

8Cool cake 20 minutes before serving.

9Spoon a generous amount of Cool Whip on top when serving.
