- 1 lb. chestnuts
- 1/2 cup soft bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 2 tbsp. cream
- 1/2 to 1 tsp. salt
- Pepper
Directions

1Make a slit in each chestnut shell with pointed knife.

2Bake the nuts in a hot oven 400F for 15 minutes, or boil them for the same length of time in water to cover, then drain.

3Remove the shells and the brown skin.

4Mash the chestnuts and combine with the remaining ingredients.
