- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. Karo syrup (white)
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 Tbsp. margarine
Directions

1Combine sugar, syrup, water and cream of tartar.

2Bring to a boil, over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves.

3Continue cooking, without stirring, to hard ball stage.

4Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and margarine.

5Pour into a greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch square pan.

6Let stand until cool enough to handle.

7Pull candy with fingers until it has a satin-like finish and milky-white color.

8Pull into long strips 3/4-inch wide.

9Cut into 1-inch pieces with scissors.

10Wrap in wax paper.
