Ingredients

  • 600 grams white fish fillets
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 200 grams chickpea / gram flour
  • 1/2 bunch fresh coriander, finely chopped
  • 1 green chilli, deseeded if desired and finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 200 ml water
  • 1 oil for deep frying

Directions

    Cut the fish into bitesize pieces and toss gently in the lemon juice to marinate

    Mix the flour, coriander, chilli, salt and turmeric in a bowl and add the water to make into a batter

    Coat the fish in the batter and let sit for 15 minutes

    Meanwhile, heat the oil to deep fry the fish, a medium heat is good.

    Fry the pieces until golden brown, around 5 minutes

    Remove the fish and let drain on kitchen towel.

    Pat off any excess oil.

    Nice served on a bed of lettuce with lemon wedges
