Ingredients: 3 c. all-purpose flour; 2 c. sugar; 6 Tbsp. cocoa; 2 tsp. baking soda; 3/4 tsp. salt; 2 Tbsp. vinegar; 1 tsp. vanilla; 3/4 c. Crisco oil or melted shortening; 2 c. very warm water

2 c. sugar

2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. Crisco oil or melted shortening
2 c. very warm water

Preheat oven to 350°.

Grease 9 x 13-inch pan.

Into large mixing bowl, sift flour, sugar, cocoa, soda and salt.

Mix thoroughly.

Make three holes in flour mixture.

Into one hole, put vinegar, into the second the vanilla and into the third the oil.

Pour water over all and mix just until smooth. Put into pan and bake for 35 minutes.
