- 4 cups self-rising flour
- 4 tablespoons butter chopped
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese grated
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 1 cup milk plus additional, for brushing
- sea salt
- butter to serve
Directions

1Preheat oven to 425°F. Lightly grease a baking pan.

2Sift flour into a large bowl. Add butter, and rub in using fingertips until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in cheese, walnuts and parsley. Season to taste.

3Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Add combined milk and 1 cup water all at once. Mix to a soft, sticky dough.

4Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Divide dough evenly in 2 pieces. Knead each gently and then press into rounds. Place both rounds on prepared pan. Brush with a little additional milk and sprinkle with sea salt.

5Bake for 25-30 mins, until golden and hollow when tapped on the underside. Serve warm with butter.
