Walnut Christmas Toffee

- 1 c. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. white corn syrup
- 3 Tbsp. water
- 1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions

1Butter a 9-inch square pan.

2Melt butter in 2-quart saucepan. Stir in sugar gradually.

3Add syrup and water; cook over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, to 290° on candy thermometer; add 1 cup of the nuts.

4Cook 3 minutes more, stirring constantly.

5Pour into pan.

6When cold, remove from pan.

7Melt chocolate over hot water.

8Coat one side of toffee; sprinkle with chopped nuts.

9Allow to set for a minute or so.

10Flip over on waxed paper and repeat. Break into bite size pieces.

11Makes 1 3/4 pounds.
