  • 4 c. bread crumbs
  • 4 1/2 c. flour, sifted
  • 6 c. chopped suet (1 1/2 lb.)
  • 2 c. chopped citron, lemon and orange peel
  • 1/2 lb. candied cherries
  • 1 lb. dates, chopped
  • 2 chopped apples
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. mace
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 pkg. raisins
  • 1 pkg. currants
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. dark syrup
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 4 1/2 c. wine
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg

Directions

    Combine all ingredients and fill greased pudding molds or baking powder cans, leaving room for swelling.

    Cans are covered, then boiled for 6 hours.

    Serve with a sauce flavored with brandy or whiskey.
