- 2 3/4 c. flour, divided
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. wheat germ
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. warm water
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 egg
Directions

1In a large bowl, mix 1 1/2 cups flour, yeast, wheat germ and salt.

2Add water, molasses, shortening and egg; mix again. Gradually stir in remaining flour to make a stiff dough.

3Cover; let rise until double in bulk, about 1 hour.

4Punch down dough. Place in greased 9-inch loaf pan or 2-quart casserole.

5Cover and let rise about 45 minutes.

6Bake at 375° for 35 to 50 minutes or until deep, golden brown.

7Remove from pan and cool before slicing.
