  • 6 Bratwurst sausages (optional)
  • 4.5 pints water
  • 3 lbs potato (peeled, kept whole)
  • 2 leeks, whites only (medium dice)
  • 1 large onion (medium dice)
  • 3 garlic cloves, peeled & kept whole
  • 3 stalks celery (large dice)
  • 2 tsp dried dill OR 1 tbsp fresh
  • juice from 2 lemons, 3 if not very juicy
  • salt and white pepper to taste.
