- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 c. milk
- 1 c. hot water
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 1/2 tsp. salt
- 6 c. flour approximately
Directions

1In a large bowl, combine milk, 1 cup water, shortening, sugar and salt.

2Mix well.

3Add yeast, dissolved in 1/4 cup water and 1/2 of the flour.

4Beat for 1 minute.

5Add enough additional flour to make a soft dough.

6Knead until smooth and elastic with bubbles under the surface (10 to 12 minutes).

7Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled.

8Punch down, cover and let rise again until doubled.

9Shape into two loaves and place in greased loaf pans.

10Grease top of loaves lightly.

11Cover.

12Let rise.

13Bake 375° for 30 to 40 minutes.
