- 2 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2 egg whites
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- food coloring
Directions

1Combine sugar, water and cream of tartar.

2Heat over high heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves and mixture boils. Reduce heat; boil 3 minutes.

3Do not stir.

4Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry.

5Pour 2/3 of syrup over egg whites, beating constantly.

6Boil remaining syrup 5 minutes.

7Pour over egg whites. Beat until desired consistency is reached.

8Add vanilla and food coloring.
