- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. soft shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 3 c. flour
- 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Mix together thoroughly the sugar, shortening and egg.

2Stir in milk.

3Sift together and stir in the flour, baking powder and salt.

4Blend in nuts.

5Pour into well-greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.

6Let stand 20 minutes before baking.

7Bake at 350° for 60 to 70 minutes (until wooden toothpick thrust into center comes out clean).

8Serve warm or cold.

9Cut with thin sharp knife to prevent crumbling.
