Ingredients
- 2 c. milk
- 6 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 3/4 c. brown sugar
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 2 c. whole wheat flour
- 4 c. white flour
Directions

1Scald milk and cool slightly.

2Add shortening, salt and brown sugar and stir.

3When lukewarm, add egg and yeast, which has been dissolved in the 1/2 cup warm water.

4Add whole wheat flour and white flour and mix until all flour is moistened.

5Let dough rest 5 minutes.

6Knead bread for 10 minutes.

7Let rise until double in bulk.

8Punch down and let rise again.

9Form into 2 loaves or dinner rolls.

10Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
