Whole Wheat Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. starter
  • 1 1/2 c. warm water
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 c. oil
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 3 1/2 c. bread flour (Pillsbury puts out bread flour, Winn Dixie carries it)
  • 3 c. wheat flour

Directions

    Mix the first five ingredients and add flour to make a stiff dough.

    Grease a large bowl with oil, put in the dough and turn over so the oily side is on top.

    Cover and let stand overnight. Do not refrigerate.

    Next morning, punch down the dough and knead lightly.

    Divide into 3 equal parts.

    Knead each portion 8 times. Put into greased loaf pans and let rise 4 to 6 hours.

    Cover with wax paper while rising.

    Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.

    Brush with butter and turn out to cool.
