- 3/4 cup wild rice
- About 3 1/2 cups water or chicken broth or a combination of water and broth
- Large pinch of salt
Directions

1Rinse the rice in water, rubbing it through your fingertips.

2Drain, and put it in a small, heavy pot with 3 cups cold water or broth and salt.

3Bring to a boil, then turn the heat down to a lively simmer.

4Set the cover askew, and cook, checking and adding more water if needed.

5After 50 minutes, tasteif the grain is tender and the liquid absorbed, its done; if not, cook another 510 minutes.
