Wilted Lettuce

Ingredients

  • lettuce, washed, drained and torn in pieces
  • 2 to 3 slices bacon
  • 5 to 6 green onions, chopped
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1/4 to 1/3 c. vinegar
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    Cut bacon in 1-inch pieces and fry until crisp.

    Add onions and saute for a couple of minutes.

    Add rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil.

    Pour over lettuce and turn pot over lettuce to wilt.

    Serve immediately.
