  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 1/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 (14 oz.) pkg. Kraft caramels
  • 1/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1/3 c. chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Melt butter; pour over cake mix and add first 1/3 cup milk. Pour 1/2 of cake mixture into a 9 x 13-inch pan and bake 8 minutes at 350°.

    While it is baking, melt caramels with 2nd 1/3 cup milk. Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts over hot baked cake mix and pour melted caramels over that.

    Put remaining half of cake mixture over caramel.

    Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes.
