- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 c. evaporated milk
- 3 c. warm water
- 5 Tbsp. sugar
- 5 tsp. salt
- 5 Tbsp. shortening
- extra flour to make dough workable
Directions

1Pour 1/4 cup

2water in small bowl.

3Sprinkle yeast over it; let set.

4Pour milk and 3 cups water in large mixing bowl. Stir in sugar and salt.

5Then stir yeast in 1/4 cup water.

6Stir sifted flour in bowl until it is the right consistency.

7Add shortening and stir.

8Place dough on floured board and knead. Place in greased Dutch oven, turning over so the top is greased. Let rise 1 hour and 45 minutes or until double in bulk.

9Punch down and rise 1 more hour.

10Make into biscuits; place in baking pan.

11Let rise 1 hour or until doubled.

12Bake in 425° oven until browned.

13To raise the dough, place dish towel over top of pan. Place it on oven rack with a pan of hot water underneath.
