- 7 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 1/2 c. milk
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Mix in a large bowl 3 cups flour and yeast.

2Heat milk, sugar, shortening and salt just until warm, stirring until shortening melts.

3Add to dry mixture in mixing bowl and beat 3 minutes. Stir in enough of the remaining flour to make a stiff dough.

4Turn out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, 8 to 10 minutes.

5Shape into a ball; place dough in lightly greased bowl.

6Cover and let rise in warm place until double in bulk, about 2 hours.

7Punch down and knead for 5 minutes.

8Shape into rolls or loaf pans.

9Cover and let rise in warm place until double, 60 minutes or more.

10Bake in oven about 45 minutes at 375°.

11Remove from pans to cool on wire racks.

12Makes 2 dozen rolls or 2 or 3 loaves.
