- 12 c. flour, divided
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 qt. milk
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. Crisco
- 4 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- melted butter
Directions

1Sift 4 cups flour into an oversize crockery bowl.

2Sift 4 cups flour into a smaller bowl, to which has been added 2 teaspoons baking powder, 2 teaspoons salt and 1 scant teaspoon soda.

3Put milk in large saucepan; add sugar and Crisco.

4Bring to a boil, but do not boil.

5Remove from stove; place in sink with several inches of water to cool.

6Place lid on top of pan.

7Put yeast into warm water.

8Dissolve.

9When milk is cooled to lukewarm, add yeast; pour this into first bowl with only the flour.

10Use rotary beater to distribute lumps.
