Ingredients
- 1 3/4 c. warm water
- 2 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 egg (room temperature)
- 1/4 c. soft butter
- 6 c. sifted all-purpose flour
Directions

1Rinse a large bowl with hot water, then pour warm water into bowl.

2Sprinkle yeast over warm water.

3Add sugar and salt and stir until completely dissolved.

4Add egg, butter and 3 cups of flour, mixing with a wooden spoon or mixer at medium speed.

5Beat very hard for 2 minutes or until smooth.

6Gradually add 1 cup of flour, beating hard after addition.

7Using hands, work remaining 2 cups of flour into dough until dough is smooth and elastic.

8After working in all flour, return dough to large bowl.

9Brush top of dough with 1 teaspoon melted butter.

10Cover and let stand until it doubles in size.

11If using immediately, punch dough down and shape into medium size balls.

12Let rise again before baking.

13If not using immediately, punch dough down and refrigerate.
