- 1 cup yellow split peas, uncooked
- 2 cups vegetable broth
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 14 teaspoon cayenne
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ghee
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 12 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 whole cloves
- 1 dash pepper
Directions

1Rinse and sort yellow split peas.

2Place rinsed peas into a soup pot with vegetable broth and bring to boil.

3Add the turmeric, cayenne and salt.

4Cover and reduce heat to low.

5Simmer for 20 - 30 minutes until peas are tender.

6While peas are simmering heat ghee in skillet and saute onion, cumin and cloves for 5 minutes.

7Add onion mixture to split peas and allow to simmer for 5 more minutes.

8Serve hot with rice.
