Ingredients
- 4 heaping Tbsp. plain flour
- 1 egg
- pinch of salt
- 1 c. milk
- oil (enough to cover bottom of layer cake pan)
- a little cold water
Directions

1Mix flour, salt and egg in a large bowl.

2Add milk gradually. Beat in small amount of cold water; let stand.

3Cover bottom of cake layer pan with a little oil and heat in oven until very hot (almost smoking).

4Beat flour mixture again and add to oil.

5Bake in hot oven at 450° to 500° for about 30 minutes.

6Serve hot with roast potatoes and gravy (or you might like it spread with jam).
