- cucumbers (small)
- bell peppers
- banana peppers (sweet)
- 1 Tbsp. plain pickling salt
- 1 Tbsp. pickling spices
- 1 tsp. alum
- vinegar
- 5 c. sugar
Directions

1You can use cucumbers, bell peppers or sweet banana peppers. Sweet banana is real good or you can mix them.

2Wash and slice them.

3Fill a gallon jug full.

4Shake them down.

5Put pickling salt, pickling spices and alum tied up in a cloth.

6Put in jug and fill with vinegar and seal.

7Count 6 weeks and write the date on lid.

8When ready, drain off vinegar and fill with water and drain off twice.

9Pour out in pan and add sugar and let stand 3 or 4 hours.

10Then fill jars with the pickles; cover with syrup and seal.
