Ingredients

  • 1 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 c. oats
  • 1 c. coconut
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 lb. margarine (1 stick)
  • 1 Tbsp. golden syrup
  • 1 tsp. bicarbonate (baking soda)
  • 1 Tbsp. water

Directions

    Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl; make well in center. Melt margarine and syrup in saucepan.

    Dissolve baking soda in 1 tablespoon of tepid water; stir into melted margarine and syrup. Pour into dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.

    Shape into balls the size of large marbles (walnut).

    Place 2 inches apart on cookie tray.

    Bake at 350° about 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
