All-Bran Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. shortening (original recipe called for lard)
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. hot water
  • 1 c. all-bran
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 yeast cakes
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 5 or 5 1/2 c. flour

    Mix shortening and sugar.

    Mix hot water and all-bran.

    Let cool.

    After it has cooled, add eggs and salt.

    Dissolve yeast cakes in warm water and add to mixture, then add flour.

    Make into rolls.

    Let rise 2 hours or until light.

    These need to rise only once and may be kept in refrigerator or may be frozen before rising.
