- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 5 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Combine all dry ingredients. Cut in shortening and mix with hands.

3Add buttermilk and yeast mixture and mix.

4Keep covered in refrigerator until ready to cut out biscuits.

5Remaining dough can be kept in refrigerator a week or two.

6Bake biscuits 12 minutes at 400°.
