- 5 c. flour
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients together.

2Cut in shortening until mixed thoroughly.

3Add buttermilk and yeast, dissolved in 1/2 cup lukewarm water.

4Work together until flour is moist.

5Cover bowl and put in refrigerator until ready to use.

6Take out as much dough as needed.

7Roll out 1/2-inch thick and cut.

8Bake at 400° on greased cookie sheet 12 minutes or until brown.

9Makes 6 dozen. Dough will keep several weeks in the refrigerator.
