- 5 c. self-rising flour
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.

2Sift together flour with other dry ingredients.

3Cut in shortening.

4Add buttermilk, then yeast mixture.

5Stir until all flour is moistened.

6Knead on floured board 1 or 2 minutes.

7Roll out or drop on a greased pan or tins.

8Store in refrigerator until needed.

9Pre-bake rolls 6 to 8 minutes or bake 12 to 15 minutes at 375° to 400°.

10Yields 5 to 6 dozen.
