- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 5 c. White Lily self-rising flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water; set aside.

2Stir flour, sugar and baking soda together.

3Cut in shortening until size of peas. Mix buttermilk with yeast water; add to flour mixture.

4Stir with fork until moistened.

5Turn out onto floured surface.

6Sprinkle with flour; knead 4 to 5 times.

7Roll 1/2-inch thick.

8Cut with 2-inch cutter.

9Place close together on lightly greased pan. Bake in preheated 400° oven for 15 to 20 minutes.

10Brush with melted butter.

11Makes 20 to 24.
