- 5 c. flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. Crisco
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients together; cut in shortening with pastry blender.

2Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water.

3Add alternately with buttermilk to dry ingredients; mix well.

4Roll out 1/4-inch thick on floured board; cut with biscuit cutter.

5Dip on one side in melted butter.

6Fold in half and place on ungreased cookie sheet.

7Bake immediately, or keep covered in refrigerator and bake as needed.

8Bake at 400° for 15 minutes.

9Yields 4 dozen.
