- 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. oleo
- 3 eggs
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. anise extract
- 1 c. slivered almonds
- 1 Tbsp. anise seed
Directions

1Sift together flour, salt and baking powder three times.

2Beat oleo and sugar until light and fluffy.

3Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each egg.

4Add anise extract, seed and flour.

5Beat at slow speed until well mixed.

6Add almond slivers.

7Preheat oven to 350°.

8Spread dough on a well-greased and floured cookie sheet. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

9Remove from oven and cut into 1-inch squares.

10Rebake 10 to 15 minutes.

11Squares will be crisp.
