- 7 to 8 tart apples (Stayman)
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. flour or cornstarch
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. butter
- pastry for 2-crust pie
Directions

1Preheat oven to 425°.

2Prepare crust.

3Peel, core and slice apples into crust.

4Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt and sprinkle over apples.

5Dot with butter.

6Top with second crust; seal and cut vents for steam.

7Brush crust with milk and sprinkle with sugar, if desired.

8Bake 40 minutes or until golden brown.
