  • 1 1/2 c. applesauce
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda together with 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 c. pecans

Directions

    Cream shortening; mix with sugar, egg and applesauce.

    Add flour, salt, spices, soda and hot water.

    Mix well and add chopped nuts.

    Bake in large pan at 350° for 1 hour or until done.
