  • 1 c. butter
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 3/4 c. chopped nuts
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 3/4 c. dates, cut up
  • 3/4 c. figs, cut up
  • 3/4 c. candied fruit
  • 2 c. applesauce
  • 1/2 tsp. soda

    Cream butter; add sugar gradually with spices, creaming until light.

    Sift flour, soda and salt.

    Dredge fruit and nuts in 1/2 cup of the flour.

    Beat eggs until light.

    Add butter mixture.

    Mix flour mixture in; stir until well blended.

    Put in fruit, nuts and applesauce.

    Bake in a tube pan at 325° for 1 1/2 hours.
