- 2/3 cup butter
- margarine
- 1-1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup asparagus puree, cooked
- 3 oz. chocolate, melted
- 1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1-3/4 cup flour
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar.

2Blend in asparagus, chocolate, vanilla.

3Combine flour with baking soda.

4Add alterately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.

5Turn into 2 8-inch cake pans and bake at 350F for 35 minutes or tested done.

6Cool in pans for 10 minutes and remove to racks to cool.

7Fill and frost with a chocolate frosting.
