- 3 slices bacon or 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon shortening
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil or bacon drippings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour

2If using bacon, cook bacon until crisp; drain, reserving 1 tablespoon drippings, if desired.

5Using 1/2 teaspoon shortening for each cup, grease the bottom and sides of six cups of a popover pan.
