- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 5 1/2 to 6 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- poppy or sesame seed (optional)
Directions

1In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Add salt and 1/4 cup sugar, stirring to dissolve.

3Gradually add flour, enough to make a soft dough, mixing well after each addition so that dough is well blended.

4Turn out onto lightly floured board and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes.
