Baked Caramel Corn

Ingredients

  • 1 c. margarine
  • 2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. white corn syrup
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 6 qt. popcorn
  • nuts (optional)

    Melt butter, brown sugar, syrup and salt.

    Stir as it comes to a boil.

    Reduce heat and cook 5 more minutes without stirring. Remove from heat. Add vanilla.

    Pour over popcorn and mix well. Put into shallow pan and bake at 250° for 1 hour. Remove and cool. Break apart and store in a tightly covered container.
