Baked Italian Spaghetti

  • 1 large can tomato sauce
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 3 c. water
  • 1 large green pepper, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz. spaghetti
  • 1/2 lb. sharp cheese, grated

    Brown ground beef, onion and pepper in skillet. Add remaining ingredients except spaghetti and cheese. Simmer slowly 2 hours. Add more water if necessary. Cook spaghetti until tender. Rinse with water; drain. Layer spaghetti in a large casserole alternately with sauce and cheese. Bake at 350° until cheese is melted. Serves 8 to 12 people.
