  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 slice bread, cubed
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Ground nutmeg

Directions

    Combine milk, eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla in a medium mixing bowl; beat well with a wire whisk. Stir in bread cubes and raisins.

    Pour mixture into a lightly greased 1-quart casserole. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. Place in an 8-inch square baking pan. Add warm water to pan to a depth of 1 inch.

    Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until a knife inserted halfway between center and edge comes out clean. Spoon into individual serving dishes, and serve immediately.
